A life stuck on Repeat

Did you know that Nostradamus was able to predict stuff by taking events from the past and realising that History has a very circular nature to it?

For this reason i should not be surprised that i have repeats, if i did not then Nostradamus would have been screwed!
But seriously i'm 3/4 days from first repeat and I don't feel it, maybe i'm desensitised to it, maybe i just don't care, or maybe i'm just super chilled, either way, i'm ok about them.

So anyone want any predictions, give me a shout and i'll sort ye out for a tiny fee, a mere admin cost!

I love Vista.
There I said it. I'm out of the closet.
Vista rocks.
I'm coming out now because I'm sick of how some people feel that just because I have Vista I must be a complete retard. Now while I do admit Vista has its flaws, there is no need to go about destroying it before its even had a chance to get going. Yes Its heavy on power, Yes its heavy on Ram, Yes its not as fast as XP but so what! Given enough backing, enough chance, it could be great. Greater even than the almighty XP.

Don't get me wrong, i think XP was/is great! Its stable, reliable and a good standard to work of. But that's just it. Its the minimum standard for most programs now. which means its stunting the development of future breakthroughs. Say for example with laptops. the standard pre Vista was 512MB or 1GB. Anyone with more was using it for gaming. Now with Vista, the standard is 2GB, you must have a fast processor, and a good audio, video and graphics card. Simply put, Vista is raising the Bar for manufacturers, putting them under pressure to offer more for a lower price!

Its only been 15 months since Vista's release. That may seem like a long time to some but to be fair with the lack of confidence in it, no wonder it hasn't been developed further. For god sake, XP SP3 was also being developed. I feel that XP must be discontinued if Vista is to stand a chance of developing into a viable, useful and stable OS.

Oh and anyone who says that they're changing to Apple, Don't take the piss, we all know you don't mean it!

I'm so sick of study already and i only have 3/12 modules done. its horrible to be stuck in studying and hear about the fun everyone is having. Sometimes i hate science, the fact we have 12 tests, hundreds of labs which count for fuck all but that we must still pass in order to sit the exam in the summer. Its not fun, hasn't been for a while. I sometimes wish i had done an Arts degree, something involving Psychology.

Issue of Transgender legal status

Ok, firstly i have no problem with transgender people. I feel that a person has to right to be happy in their own skin.

My problem comes from the point of view of my own field of interest, Forensic Detection.

Let me paint a picture:

A murder seen is discovered and some hair/skin cells are the only evidence that was able to be collected. Upon analysis it is determined that the suspect is a caucasian male. The suspect DNA is passed through tall the available databases and again no hit. The only suspects are a young black male and a middle age woman.

So who could it be.

My problem is that despite the fact the woman is now officially and legally a woman, she was born a man. her DNA still shows that she is a man!

Now i do feel that all transgender persons should have status, but for official documents it should say that the person is Transgender. i know this seems harsh but if it helps to save lives, or help speed up the legal system then yes, i believe it would be a positive step.

When i say Official documents, i mean official ID, all government records etc. the persons own personal ID, College etc, should state her sex as Female.

I'm open to comments or criticisms on this point.

Lost Time Travel Theory

Its an amazing theory that must have taken a load of research and time to put together. What i like most is that he references the series throughout and manages to explain even the most bizarre elements including the Polar Bear and The Black Smoke!

Vista Service Pack 1

Finally, he update i wanted was eventually released on Windows Update. I downloaded it last weekend and to be honest at first i didn't notice any change. i was gutted. then i stopped looking and started to notice one or two things.

Firstly my major problem with Vista is that it is too heavy on the RAM. I mean atleast 65-70% of RAM goes into just keeping the laptop idle. Since updating though i have found that its now gone down as far as 50%. i've never seen 50% ever on it! Also the demands on the processor have significantly lessened.

Secondly, the power consumption seems to have slowed, i can now get a good hour with a few internet windows open and be playing games, or uploading photos. This is a major bonus especially in college.

A new feature with the update is the ability to selec which drive to fragment. previously this was not possible and it was a case of all or nothing. Its a nice touch.

At the end of January I wrote a blog about what should be in Vistas new update. Apart from the Gadget clean up, which has nothing to do with Vista, everything i could hope for was provided. Even checking for updates now takes place more regularly.

Reflections on a crazy week.

This has been the busiest, most stressful week i've put down in a while.
It began last monday with collecting money for science ball. It was a lot of hassle to be honest. i just ended up running round like a headless chicken ringing and redialing people.
Then on wednesday i come to college to hear that all the tickets were sold out.
I had booked tickets but i was still worried in case someone had sold them so then spent the rest of the week terrified about what to do if there was none there. But alls well!

Feelings On Vista and other such important matters

I got a Vista laptop. Its an E-Systems laptop. And don't worry if you've never heard of it before, neither had I.
It has 1 GB Ram which means doing to much to quickly will hurt it. But whatever way Vista is set up to work with hardware whenever i put it under pressure to perform it speeds up a huge amount. I had read that ReadyBoost, the new feature on Vista that can use a memory stick as a Flash Cache, only works best under pressure and perhaps its the same for the core.

Visually vista looks amazing. the Aero effect is quite spectacular. I still have an XP computer at home but it just looks so dull, so lifeless. In terms of visuals only Leopard can come close.

I find that the Sidebar is quite useful only for keeping an eye on my connection and Core. otherwise its a bit shit. there isn't enough yet for it.

SP1 is due out in a few months and hopefully it will fix a few problems with Vista, Perhaps:
Lower demand on Processer.
Lower demand on RAM
Lower demand on Battery time. On the lowest power setting the laptop still won't do an hour and a half.
A Clean up of the Gadgets available that simply don't work or crash the Computer.
A way to set up auto checks for updates. Without it i find 24/36 hours goes by without it checking for an update and since Vista is so finicky still any update is brilliant for it.

If Santy can't help me with this, I'll try Jim!

Got Some Updating To Do

Ok so the last time i wrote a blog was the 4th of july, so thats thursday friday and the flights to catch back up on
Thursday:
Did nothing!
Friday:
Did Nothing and packed
Saturday:
Packed and ate KFC and then headed to the airport. We got the 10 o clock flight to Newark and arrived on
Sunday: arrive in beautiful new jersey just before morning and jogged to the next gate where we got the flight to heathrow. We flew back with virgin again and it was brilliant and so comfy. they really are the best. we even flew over carrigaline on the way back.. it was crazy.
Arrived in london where we were held up for an hour cause of a loack of a parking spot
and then got stuck in border control for a while and then had to jog to terminal 1 where we soon discovered that the plane to take us home hadn't even arrived and the gate was due to close in fifteen minutes. Eventually it arrived and and we borded but ended up being an hour late and arrived in home at 1 o clock and then had to go to bed to be up at 7 for work at 8. and thats my news all sown up.

4th Of July

So independence day huh? seems lik a mini paddys day. we rose about 12 and had breakfast before we started drinking. around half 3, when everyone was ready, we headed to the beach and my god was it packed. i heard this morning there was 600,000 people on the beach at the same time. it was just wierd, everywhere was tents and marquess and among all the american flags/confederacy flags was a solitary irish flag. like a beacon amid the storm. so migrating to it we discover just about everyone we know is there and already very drunk. there was a few guys on either side of the marquee as border patrol, if you ain't irish get the hell outta here!!!! i could only stick about an hour and a half/2 maybe before i just wanted to get up home and shower really badly!!! so as i came out of the shower the rest arrived with the party and we really let loose. the beer was flowing, the songs were singing and no sign of the threatened landlord appearance or our adopted supervisor! the house is perfectly placed with all the foot traffic on the way to the beach and back from it! so the crowd was rocking as they were going past. eventually everyone was getting tired and needed bed so bad the crowd was sent off and beds were crashed into!
But we were woken by a desperate cry of get out, quick the landlord is supposed to call soon!!!!!
so still in a daze and last nights clothes we bundled out of the house and escaped to one of the lads house, who happens to have a pool nearby so it was a good way to recover in the pool and jacuzzi before chillin in the house and i'm only "home" about an hour. great day!

Planning

So today was spent planning and preparing for tomorrow the 4th. its officially America Day here in the house and its american football tops and possibly cheerleader outfits (i have the legs for it). the guy next door has after getting a keg of coors for the party and we got so much food its scary.
the neighbour, Mike, said that tomorrow the road outside will be lik a catwalk with all the women heading to the beach so i'll fill ye in later.

i'm off cause i smell my chips burning but i'll let ye know how tomorrow goes

Zoo Day

Went to the zoo today and it was pretty good. a lot of animals i hadn't seen before and of course i'd seen plenty before. thats about all really. i took loads of photos today so as soon as i'm home they go up. i'm on 122 photos and about 4/5 videos so i'll need the computer when i get home

Very normal day here. all we did was go to the beach and then came home and stayed here. i went to the shops to get my grub for the next few days but thats about it. Plans for next week include

and then pack for home. cause to be honest we would go a bit crazy if we stay here all summer, like i've been here for only a week and i'm a bit bored of the whole get drunk go to sleep get up go to beach come home get drunk go to sleep etc etc!!!! at this stage home seems lik a great idea, cause two weeks is just enough of america for me to take right now.
My revelations and observations on america i'll save till one of the last days cause i'm still constructing them, plus i'm still seeing new stuff.

Seaworld

So we went to seaworld yesterday and it was pretty cool! there is so many shows and such that if u were that way inclined you could spend all day there just going to shows, queueing up, see more shows, queue up again and so forth! its a wierd feeling there tho cause its not really an aquarium or a wildlife park, its more aqua-disney, instead of Mickey Mouse, you have Shamu the whale.
we went to the big show at night, Shamu Rocks, and it was unreal! seeing these huge Killer Whales leaping out of the water about 10 or 12 feet and spinning around or doing somersaults. they even are trained to soak people including us as we had decided to sit up the front in the "Soak Zone". we thought we had gotten away with sitting so close until about 30 seconds left of it, some trainer sent one of them over to our section to soak us with its tail as it flicked water twice and then dived straight down and then straight back up to spit water right on top of us!

All in all it was an amazing day.
Oh and americans don't get bored easily, i saw a mexican wave kepp going round for a good 10 minutes, it was ridiculous!!!!

Firstly the reason i didn't blog yesterday was cause yesterday was a boring day. around these parts thursdays are recover from tj days so we didn't do anything. today was another shopping day but i was much more constrained. todays shopping included:

So i survived my trip to tj. it was only ok, not amazing by any stretch. the best thing that i told no one was that we had a strech Hummer take us down and then collect us at the us border at 6. it was so cool, proper pimped!!
So we make it to the border and its just a short walkl through to the mexican side. and strtaight away its sticking together time, everyone groups together to make sure we're all safe. and it was one boy to each group to make sure.
We grab the nearest taxi and my god it was an eye opening ride, no seatbelts and road markings ha, a mere suggestion. We gewt to the door of the club and see a big queue of irish waiting there. finally make it in and it was so wierd. i had only been in Henrys once but it looked like a run down version of the downstairs bar, u know bare stone and tiles, bumps everywhere. so straight away its waiters coming up asking what u want, but the girls had warned us that these are the ones who could spike your drink so we steer clear and make for the bar. so 5 o clock rools by and its back across the border to the US and our awaiting hummer. and thats it, i'm finallly back at the house now and the rest of the house are asleep or going to sleep which seems like an amazing idea so i might just do that. plan for today is..... well..... none as of yet. My self and cian are thinking about a run to kfcs for our dinner/ breakfast.

Other half from the shopping adventure

so after i had finished the previous blog i realised there was so much more to write about. Yesterday started with a bus ride to a kinda Capwell station kinda thingy where u can get off a bus and get on a Trolley (san diego version of a tram) or a normal train.
the plan for yesterday had been to go to carlsbad outlet centre but upon arriving at the station we discovered the next carlsbad train was 2 hours away. so we decided to go to Las americas which is a stones throw from the mexican border. so we jump on a tram and after about 22 stops we arrive at the end of the line. following a conversation with a police man who told us, for god sake don't go left, left is mexico, if u end up at a gate your in mexico, we went over to a street out of Desperados or Shane! after about ten minutes we arrive at the mall, its lik a mini village and the atmosphere was lik nothing back home. and stuff was so cheap. so after 5 hours and $370 i was done. then we jumped back on the bus and came home. so thats the sceal. and i'm off to tijuana tonight.

also known as shopping day, aka the day a boy out shopped girls. Thats right, i kicked ass at an outlet centre. i went, as the girls call it, on a wreck! i spent $370, whuch seems a lot, but in euros its just 280 so its not bad for the amount i got which is:

3 t shirts

All designer, all kick ass. So all in all an amazing days shopping
Now i'm exhausted and just tucking into pasta and watching apocalypto.

Day 2 Part 2

Today was quiet enough, all we did was go to the beach, then BK the shopping for dinner, which was my turn to make, and now we're just sitting around watching super sweet sixteen drinking cans.
Tonight as i said was my turn for dinner, and i made the family specialty of cajun chicken in a pitta and my god, i thought yeah i'd be used to it, not that spicy, oh my shit was it hot, in fact i'm bringing 5/6 jars of seasoning home with me, cause u can't get it at home and its brilliant! but yeah thats been my day so far, just running off to my shower in a minute.
Tomorrow is shopping day, we're off to Carlsbad, a town a little bit north of us, there is a outlet store so plenty of shopping to be done. it opens at 10 and the girls want to be there before it opens.

Day 2-ish

so last night we went to a beach party.
It was packed with irish. it was ridiculous. and every once and a while the cops would roll past and shine a torch over everything from the boardwalk and then just keep rolling. it seems that the only way you could get caught is if u were too drunk to react, or too stupid to notice cause we were able to see them from about a quarter mile away and everyone knows what to look out for. its currently 11.13 on monday morning and the rest of the house (apart from the one girl who works) are still in their bedrooms, i'm on the couch and couldn't really sleep so i got up early and had a bite to eat and a shave and so forth cause god knows if i wait till later i just won't get one. the plan for today, although i haven't had a chance to suss out with the rest, is to go to Target and pick up blow up beds for one of the girls who is currently sleeping on cushions from the couch i sleep on. oh and just for people who do't know, the house is consisted of a kitchen, dining room/sitting room, bathroom, a bedroom for cian and caroline, and 2 bedrooms with Dora, Kate, Fiona, Virg and Ciara spread out between them and then me on the couch.
The computer i'm currently typing on is shite too, its windows 98, and my phone can't connect to it so i ca't upload photos. this sucks. but i'm loving my time over here, and of course missing everyone at home too, but its been a good few ours, i'm still in double figures here like!!!
Oh and i found the best drink in the world,. its called Vitamnwater, its unreal, i've become kinda addicted to it. i'll explain more when i get home

New feelings on san d

So i've finally been out in san d. today we went food shopping and i had my first real shock. a bunch of grapes = $4. 8 apples = $4 the hell like!!! but other stuff is ridiculous cheap. a litre of rum is $20 thats morgan spice rum. more stuff is wierd here. cheerios isn't 4 grains of goodness, but one shit grain type. but we got lucky charms, but i'm yet to try them. we went to the beach as well and police patrol on quads, and so do lifeguards who have the authority to hold u if u're under underage.
so thats all i've done in the past 22 hours since i came here.

So i'm more or less settles in work, its ok, lot of heavy lifting and repetition but otherwise ok.
I'm off to th eD on saturday morning so most of my blogs for a while will be from san d.
Results are out on friday about an hour before i go to dublin which quite sucks. i'm so nervous its ridiculous. of late whenever i stop working i instantly think of how many days till results. even now i'm getting a knot in my stomach. But San diego should help.
Anyway enough for now, must go watch Mr Whelans Vid Blog from china, looks quite good.

Nearly There

So as i face my final exam, i reflect on those gone by with a feeling of nervousness and slight paranoia. I really hope i don't end up repeating any cause i did last year and it was a horrible feeling. and getting results for repeats is worse. When you get summer result its bad, but at least in the back of your mind you're thinking, its grand i've got the repeats if i need it, a fall back.but with the repeat results its really, oh shit, what the fuck am i going to do if it doesn't go my way, what will i do, will i have to do if i fail, repeat the whole year or just drop out. all these things ran through my head last year and i was scared shit less.
So come 6 o clock on the 22nd of june i will have my answer, to repeat or not repeat, that really is the question.

Today was UCC open day, and yes it was like being back in jam junior back in the day. It was lik a cattle market, Herds of girls wandering aimlessly, Packs of Wild Boys stalking their prey, and then me, in the middle of the amphitheatre breaking my ass laughing, with my Mocha, at the conversations i can hear including such gentlemanly comments as;

As my final official study week looms up, i thought i'd take stock and see just how much work i've got left.... and unsurprisingly i have shit loads, as in most of chem adn ML and BC, two bastard modules invented by the fuck wits in the department of Biochemistry. so to summarise, hate study, hate biochem, hate this whole test malarky and we're all just as fucked as each other!!!!

I finished my last day of 2nd year college last friday and it felt wierd, not just cause no one was around when i came out of the lab, but because it meant time to study and a countdown to exams. And i can say after completing my first week of study it can't come soon enough. The weather has been so nice that it feels like god is punishing us science folk with 12 exams to study for, while everytime u step outside of the library it feels lik the rest of college is having a party, lik today for instance i was invited to the beach but i can't cause of stupid study and i have to do it at home cause of the library being closed, cause if i go in i won't do anything at all.
In lighter news, i saw 300 the other day, it really is amazing.

in the past few days i have been mostly doing...... stuff. i know not specific, but i just worked and messed around in col, and did a bit of work too.
In a cheerful note, i finished work on sunday, and i really was delighted to finish, it was so nice to know that i had nothing to do for the last week of col.
And speaking of this week, my adoring fans will be able to see me portray the part of "stagehand" in the UC Dramat production of "how to get rid of it." its a non speaking role and most of my work is done suring the interval, but, those sharp eyed among u will be able to catch sight of me in between act 1 and 2. my prescence is known by the sound of rolling thunder and the roar of a peruvian mountain lion all rolled into one.
If u are unsure about any of this, come to the play damn it, i order u to!! its really good seriously and anyone who knows me will know plenty in it too. its on from wednesday through to saturday at 8, but be there early cause they'll sell out.

News about the airport

I got a letter when i got home on friday from the airport and....

This week sometime i should receive in the post a contract of employment.
I start on the 5th of June so YAY, looking good for the planned year i'm having next year.

In other work related news, i'm finished in dunnes on sunday and i've got mixed feelings about it which i was not expecting. i have had a good time there and the work has been a breeze and made some good friends. But i am ready for a new challenge now, something different, something new and shiny. thankfully if the airport does fall through (re: San Diego) then i might very well still have something in dunnes to go back to.

And two weeks left in college, holy shit, i'm halfway through my degree.

Of course i left my report to the last minute, again so its just done now.
I've also got my car fixed, which is nice, cost a lot tho, which isn't!
I'm off to SanDiego on the 23rd of june for two weeks cause i got my loan the other day, but now i'm terrified i'll spend the money before i even go, its horrible lik!! Still waiting as well to hear back from the Airport, but i should know soon.

Thats pretty much it, kinda boring huh?

I did one of those celebrity look like things and to be honest i'm a little bit disturbed/disappointed. My highest match was with a now 65 year old male model called Fabio Lanzoni, i got a 73% match. So being curious i investigated this 'fabio' and discovered one or two things

He was born in italy and did a stint in the army before going to America to do modelling.
When he quit modelling, he turned to acting (see Zoolander- At the awards, he wins best model-slash-Actor)
After appearing on the cover of so many romance novels, ol fabio wanted in on he action and set about writing his own material. And seeing that having himself on the cover of others books had increased sales by 20-40% he also put himself on the cover, and also had a centrefold in it!!!

Post lab report reflection

Finally finished my lab report today, at last. in the end it took 2 cans of fosters to entice someone else to finish too.
thanks to nat, i have also seen memento, which is a brilliant movie, but not for some people. its a really clever idea, the film is chopped up and put backwards with bits overlapping so u know where in the story you are.
next up for me is the spec labs due tomorrow at 5 so there is no rush at all.
well lost is on now so i'm off to go watch it, cause god knows thats fucked up at the momen, but still good

Ah tis about time i had a bloggy yolk a-mu-job, especially since my recent adventures in bebo and myspace, and more recently facebook(Shit!) its time to spread some more of the smurfy.
So in true angsty first blog i have several things that grind my gears......

Stupid lab reports, why did i leave it so late!!
Why did otway have to quit smoking when he'll be correcting our tests, we're all going to fail
Stupid work being all stupid....and gay... and stupid.
Lack of money is horrible for me, i need money to run the car!!! actually shit i need oil!!!!
Banana in ice cream. i'm sorry for going on about this but the hell lik, it was called death by chocalate, it never said anything about banana. what if i was allergic to banana, i could have died.... stupid ginos!!!
